Mechanical Engineer

An exciting opportunity exists in our Burnaby research facility for an energetic and committed Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will be mainly involved in the front-end design and engineering of our lab and field based experiments, rigs and skids. In addition, the candidate will support project coordination and management.


 Responsibilities will include:

  • Mechanical design calculations (pressure drop, heat transfer, stress analysis, etc.)
  • Project coordination and engineering support to Research Scientists
  • 3D and FEA modeling of equipment
  • Generation of fabrication drawings
  • Mechanical and process equipment specification
  • Equipment and materials procurement
  • Management of equipment assembly and assistance as required
  • Participation in HAZOP teams and generation of safety related procedures


Skills and Experience:

  • Mechanical design
  • Process calculations
  • Knowledge of ASME design codes and safety regulations
  • Pressure vessel design
  • Piping systems design
  • Project management
  • Machining, fabrication and assembly
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics is beneficial

Projects will be based mainly out of our industrial laboratory facility in Burnaby. However, there are also potential opportunities for field work and travel to our Edmonton branch or clients’ facilities based on project requirements. The candidate must thrive in a team oriented environment, as well as work well independently.


Qualification requirements:

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Currently registered as a P. Eng.
  • 4+ years experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
