Marvin Weiss Ph.D., P.Eng.
VP - Business Development
Dr. Marvin Weiss has over thirty-five years of experience in experimental, computational and theoretical fluid dynamics. In addition to his role as VP of Business Development, he also leads the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) group at Coanda.
He obtained BSc and PhD degrees from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary and has developed computer codes for steady-state modeling of flow and heat transfer in piping systems, high pressure blowdown of gas pipelines, capsule pipelining, derived thermodynamic properties from real gas state equations, and Stirling-cycle simulations.
Dr. Weiss also has extensive experience in experimental acoustics, surge control in compressor systems, and turbulence and drag reduction in pipe flows.
He has been directly involved in the CFD analysis of a wide range of single and multiphase flow systems and has used commercial CFD codes for over 30 years—starting with Creare’s Fluent v1.0, which required you to create a stepped grid using a series of alphanumeric characters on a cartesian mesh!
Over the past 35 years, Dr. Weiss has successfully conducted and managed applied corporate research programs and projects in various areas of fluid dynamics, acted as an Expert Witness on several occasions, and has published 16 technical papers, authored more than 250 reports and developed 5 patents. He joined Coanda in 2002 and is based at our Calgary office.
