Edmonton, AB – Coanda
Today, Coanda Research celebrates the grand opening of its expanded Oil Sands research facility in Edmonton, AB. With over 15,000 square feet of space and a full acre of outdoor yard space, Coanda has positioned itself to support its rapidly growing oil sands research activities. This new Edmonton facility provides close proximity and access to oil sands sites, and in turn allows for rapid testing of fresh materials and samples. Our Edmonton presence allows efficient collaboration with clients and research partners at groups such as Alberta innovates, Canmet and C-Fer.
continuing expansion
In 2012 Coanda established its first major expansion beyond the Vancouver-area with the acquisition of a 5,500 square foot space in South East Edmonton. Quickly, Coanda’s clients took full advantage of this opportunity and subsequently this second, much larger expansion was undertaken.
“The strong demand for our services, so close to our client’s operating sites, has driven us to expand and push our technical boundaries into areas of Geotechnical, piloting work and process engineering – in addition to our core capability of fluid dynamics and cold flow modelling” – Darwin Kiel, Coanda CEO.
The new facility is located in North-West Edmonton, in the exciting, up and coming industrial hub of High Park. With ample power (600V / 1200A) and space, this facility is ideally suited to oil sands research programs that model tailings treatment processes, thickeners, primary separators as well as other new and novel technologies aimed at oil sands and oil and gas in general.
“This new facility answers the strong demand we’ve seen over the past three years in Edmonton. Our staff and clients alike are excited to get settled and continue many of the major research programs we have been executing. With a dedicated fiber-optic link and HD video conferencing, we are also very excited to be even better connected with our Vancouver and Calgary offices” – John Diep, VP – Edmonton & Field Operations
