Sean Delfel Ph.D.
Dr. Sean Delfel brings 20 years of experience in computational, theoretical and experimental fluid dynamics. He obtained his B.Sc. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Washington and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC) working on the design of rotary screens for use in the pulp and paper industry through the use of computational and experimental modelling.
Prior to joining Coanda in 2011, he worked for Boeing, performing analytical, experimental and computational loads analysis on commercial aircraft.
Over the past decade Dr Delfel has been heavily involved in the mining sector, spearheading research programs involving Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as well as physical modelling techniques. Dr. Delfel has expertise in multi-phase flows and non-Newtonian fluids and has been involved in projects including but not limited to slurry preparation systems, slurry hydrotransport, pump and splitter boxes, separation technology, flotation systems, and tailings processing equipment.
