Coanda has been named the official testing partner for LabTestedMasks.com, the online marketplace for face masks that have undergone standardized tests. The testing helps consumers make more informed choices when purchasing non-medical PPE.

The Coanda team initially brought together scientists and engineers to design a fit-for-purpose apparatus for testing masks earlier this year. As previously reported in the Calgary HeraldCoanda responded to a request from Calgary-based mask manufacturer Canadian Zodiac, who were seeking an independent evaluation of their products.

Coanda has continued to develop and refine the apparatus in the subsequent months to ensure the equipment produces clear and repeatable results. The revised apparatus now incorporates the latest measurement technology.

The evolving regulations related to non-medical masks have also been considered (European CWA 17550:2020 guideline). In addition, to help the consumer easily digest the technical data, Coanda has developed a grading system based upon the test results, rating fabric filtration effectiveness and breathability on a 1-5 scale.
